Wasantha Senarathne
President of the World Kickboxing Federation, the World Martial Arts Association (WMA) and WMKF in Sri Lanka, and Chief Instructor of WMA Sri Lanka in Kandy.
ISKA Sri Lanka Director of Officiating, British Open silver medallist, European Open bronze medallist, member of WAKO GB, Sri Lanka Muay Thai National Referee & Judge and Jury member of the Karma Fight League (KFL), Master Wasantha brings international fight experience to every kickboxing class in Kandy, from complete beginners to fighters he corners at world championships.

Kickboxing in Kandy – FAQ
Where are the kickboxing classes in Kandy held?
At three locations: the Kandy YMCA in Kandy town, Pabasara Hall in Wattegama, and Menikhinna. See the timetable above for each location.
When are the classes?
Kandy YMCA: Saturday 12:00 – 2:00 PM and Sunday 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Wattegama (Pabasara Hall): Sunday 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Menikhinna: Saturday 4:00 – 6:00 PM. Call or WhatsApp 077 635 7322 to confirm.
Are there kickboxing classes in Wattegama or Menikhinna?
Yes. Master Wasantha teaches kickboxing & Muay Thai at Pabasara Hall, Wattegama every Sunday 4:00 – 6:00 PM, and in Menikhinna every Saturday 4:00 – 6:00 PM.
Do you also teach Muay Thai in Kandy?
Yes. Master Wasantha teaches both kickboxing and Muay Thai, and is a Sri Lanka Muay Thai National Referee & Judge.
Do I need any experience?
No. Most students start as complete beginners. Master Wasantha adapts every class to your level and fitness.
Are there martial arts classes for children?
Yes. Our Kandy YMCA kids' kickboxing classes build discipline, confidence and fitness in a safe environment.
Are the gradings internationally recognised?
Yes. Belts are awarded under the World Martial Arts Association (WMA) and WMKF, led in Sri Lanka by Master Wasantha Senarathne.
What should I bring to my first class?
Comfortable sportswear, water and a towel. Ask us on WhatsApp which gloves and pads you need before you start.
How much does it cost to join?
